It just got better and better with each new character introduced, I'm so impressed with how much each of these characters had their own lives. I also adore a lot of the values and understandings of life running through this: of class and confidence and self love. Finally I love how intergenerational this is (it's something very linked to my PhD thesis weirdly enough!) Thank you to Lucy for recommending!

So immersive. Incredibly rich and vivid accounts of such a range of characters. I felt utterly captivated by the story. The way it knitted together, but also diverged was fascinating and gave me pause to reflect on my own life and relationships.

This book will stay with me for a long time. I loved the way Evaristo created these characters that span all walks of life and all felt knowable and familiar whilst also feeling fresh and individual. The way everything connected was very clever without feeling forced. I could have read the whole thing in a very short time but made myself put it down so it would last longer. I would recommend this book to anyone! The diversity and representation was an utter joy!
