Kiiinda expecting a little more considering the hype (I didn't even cry :0). It was enjoyable (I liked the concept), easy to read, made me ponder life and death, but it felt like it stayed on the surface where it could have ventured deeper.

"We never act", Mateo says. "Only react once we realise the clock is ticking."

"Not that I'll say that out loud be because yo, you can't go around telling people you wanna be a tree and expect them to take you seriously"
;)

I love rufus and mateo, but it took me a while to get through this book, and I was told it was sad but I didn’t shed a tear? still good though

I laughed, I cried a number of times, I sweat, I danced, I got a shot, I ate, and I had many epiphanies.

I felt like this book was written solely for me. Every small reference, every song choice, every little nuance of these characters that feel like home. Silvera simultaneously wrote them for the community as a whole, and for me specifically.

Bravo.

No, no lloré.

This book was definitely cute. It was a little predictable and didn’t sweep me off my feet, but I enjoyed it. I don’t usually do fantasy kind of reads but this wasn’t over the top so it was a good read for me.

Didn't get through the first 150 pages because the writing style just didn't do it for me, but so I can't judge the book in its entirety

Reading this book is spot-on with all I've been thinking about death lately. Imagine a world where they call you to tell you this is your last day. You won't know how you'll die, but you'll know how you'll live. Terrifying, right? Knowing that you'll die but not knowing how is terrifying, of course, but starting to live because you know you will die is the most terrifying thing that happens, actually. Mateo spends his life afraid, Rufus spends his life not liking himself. And when they have less than 24 hours left, that's when they actually start living.

This is how your life could be and yet you only have 24 hours left to live it.

It's not a perfect book by far, but even with all the cliches that surround "the day before we die", it manages to create a beautiful story, with different characters whose lives are so interwoven they don't even realise it.

Ultimately, it got me thinking - what am I waiting for?
