Interesting use of third person/present tense narrative.

First half of the book had me in tears - the death of Dan's lover and the anger, despair and loneliness he feels was well written.

Because of the third person narrative, Dan's feelings/confusions about his career, life, and feelings towards Evan and Jeff are clear and rang true. However, I found that Evan and Jeff's feelings were the missing pieces to this book. I needed more of their emotional input and journey to understand the urgency and depth of their feelings. I felt as if I was on the inside looking out with out a way to connect.

This story is so emotional, and very interesting to read. It is not a story you can read and forget. Off to read the sequel.

I love this book. I think I should get this out there right now. I absolutely love it, it’s one of my favorites. Kate Sherwood does a wonderful job drawing the reader in, and allowing them to witness the mans life as he lives it.

Dan is a horse person with a bad past, and lover dying. He meets Evan and Jeff when they come to buy a horse for Evan’s sister, Tatiana. I won’t give everything away, but Dan ends up leaving his past behind and starting a 3-way relationship between Evan and Jeff. Yes, this is a Ménage of all men.

The book is well written, tells the story without being overbearing as some stories can be, and focuses solely on Dan. There are a lot of realistic concerns within the book that make it a lot more believable than some I’ve read, and this story does not lose focus.

It’s long though, 384 pages. Once you get started, you can’t stop though. With every step forward, there is two steps back, and more. Sherwood’s representation of a three-way relationship is amazing and worth taking the time to read.

It’s angsty. too. You will cry at what happens, and you will not want to continue for a second due to all the crying you’re doing. Keep going anyway, it gets better.

There is a sequel to this book, and I will have the review of that one up as soon as possible.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a book I've put off reading for a long time. It's been one of those books that in a way scare me. There's such mixed feeling about it and it's not a short book if you have difficulty with it. And I'm just too damn stubborn to DNF a book lol.

Lucky for me I had no trouble. Honestly, I loved it. Dan just grabbed me and took me along on his ride. His ups and downs. His sorrow and his joy. He made me feel it all. Jeff I liked virtually straight away as well. Evan took a little longer for me to warm up to, but in the end all of the characters... yes ALL of them grew on me.

I can't wait to read the next one of the series.

At first the style of writing threw me off but somehow I managed to overcome my dislike and soldiered on. While the story was good, I thought it rather drawn out but will read the next in the series sometime. I did like the realistic time-line of the story and how the relationship difficulties were shown. Dan was a prat at times but Evan was the character that I had difficulty in believing in. He seemed a lot of the time like an overgrown school boy - hard to reconcile with the cut-throat businessman( one doesn't succeed in business without being cutthroat unfortunately). Sometimes I felt there was too much description and detail but if you love horses and being around them then this is the book for you.

First let me say that this book is well-written but at the beginning I had real problem with the 3rd person/present. I did finally get used to it but it's not my favourite.

There were moments in this book that were perfect, mainly (for me) in Part 1. Dan and his relationship to Justin were the most fleshed-out aspects of the book and yet there was little detail as to their daily life. Jeff had the potential at the beginning to become a more real character but he and Evan ultimately remained flat for me. Once Dan gets to California things just got confusing...for him and for me. Jeff and Evan's problems and plans are intimated but are never dealt with on-page or with Dan until the very end, leaving us wondering what the hell is going on. Communication, people! Communication! It just got a little tedious after awhile.

A story about sorrow, and starting dating after the death of a partner, with complications. Biggest complication: the interested party is a couple, which would lead to a threesome.

A happy for now ending. Looking forward to more about Dan.

This is a perfect meaty romance. It's just soapy enough, with an excellent slow build and characters I was rooting for. The only problem is that I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish it - and then the ending wasn't a real resolution. On to the sequels, I guess, after nowhere near enough sleep last night.
