It's been a few years since I've read any James Patterson, i devoured all the early Alex Cross stories and loved him as a character. But i just couldn't get behind this new detective as much. Maybe my reading tastes have evolved, but this felt a bit too much like a generic cop chases killer story, not really helped by the Patterson trademark extremely short chapters. Felt like it's been written more for a screenplay, which will no doubt happen at some point as it has the usual dramatic showdown. Probably won't read any more of this series.

  • Easy read (4 hours)
  • The pro-cop agenda was a little nauseating, especially what Bennet's kids do in the end. This book is nothing special, it's interesting enough for a mystery but is average and does not stand out.
  • I liked the witty writing regarding Bennet's personal life.
