Marigold has had a crush on her best friend's brother, Zachary, for a long time. Zachary always had a thing for her too but he ignored it and avoided her.  A literal shock makes him realize he needs to tell her how he feels before its too late.  But she's dating Preston, who has some secrets of his own.

Zachary has always been the troublemaker of the Haven's so I enjoyed seeing him realize his true feelings and fight for his girl - literally. This has some suspense throughout it but for once you know who the bad guy is!  It kept me intrigued. I did feel like it overshadowed the romance plot a little bit though. I didn't quite feel the chemistry between Zachary and Marigold but I did enjoy how sweet he was to her when she was finally his. I love Claire's storytelling. I'm looking forward to finding out which Haven is next to get his HEA.

Trigger warning: Definitely some sex trafficking talk so just beware.

I swear every time I read one of Claire’s books I am so engrossed and get sucked in so fast! Her style of writing just captivates you!

Oh Zachary! You sweet sweet man. A literal shock gave him his wake up call. And it’s Marigold. The twist and turns kept me on my toes. The emotions were hitting. And the antics of being in Tilikum. I wish I could go there!

I really hated the interspersed plot line of the girl who was kidnapped and going to be pimped out. It made the book unreadable and made me not want to know what happens with Zachary and Marigold. I wished I had some sort of warning. I was continually afraid he would kill her and/or Marigold and I had no warning for Brielle being drugged and sexually assaulted. I wanted to be able to finish the book and hear the ending. The way the book was advertised and described was not at all consistent with what I read.

I love reading about Tilikum and the Haven/Bailey boys again. I loved all of the Bailey boys books but something is missing in these. I think the family closeness and the practical jokes maybe? Definitely the crazy squirrels aren’t a big part of this series. I will continue to read the rest of Haven boys books as they come out I just hope we get to see glimpses of the rest of the crew in them.

I enjoyed the mystery part way more than the romance even though everything was really predictable
