In the 2nd book of the Tempered Steel series, Maggie Adams once again delivers an intriguing story that keeps you wanting more. While the book started out holding my interest, mid-way through I found the writing flat. Details I wanted were missing, yet in the chapters that completed this novel, Ms. Adams found her voice and once again I was on the edge of my seat. For those who love sexy construction workers, sexy cowboys, sexy servicemen and the women who loved them, I highly recommend this book. I can't wait to find out what is up next for the Coalson Brothers!

While the first book simply had a condescending pig as a hero, this book romanticises domestic abuse and anger management problems. It is not romantic for a guy to think he owns your body and can punish you for thinking for yourself (not in a BDSM way but an actual "you are my woman" kind of way). Or for a guy to treat you like shit but hey, that must mean he really loves you, right?

The underlying mystery aspect is interesting, which is its only redeeming feature.
