yeah, i bailed at 47%. it was just dragging, you know? boring, forced humor that felt like it was trying way too hard. i couldn't grasp what was happening – felt rushed and repetitive.

but, toby's (mmc) little joke text messages, at the beginning of each chapter? those were the highlight. some legit made me giggle. cute touch in the midst of all the meh. overall, not my jam

This was such a fun friends-to-lovers romance!❣️✨ The cover caught my eye on Netgalley at first(how cute!) before I realized that I'd read some of the author's YA books when I was a teen and I hit the request button. Anyway, I'm glad that I enjoyed this one too!

Sister of the Bride is a heartwarming romance where childhood friends find their way into each other's heart. This book took a bit to get to the romance, and it was more of Pippin coming of age. The banter was hilarious, especially the "Dad Jokes." This book is a quick read.

Sister of the Bride could've also used a bit more editing prior to sending the ARC - it contained numerous grammatical errors and misspellings which was a bit off-putting to the flow of the story.

Thank Yellow House Media for the complimentary copy.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review!! ✨️

So so so so so good. I loved this book. I'm definitely a mood reader, and this was perfect for what I was in the mood to read. I love friends to lovers, especially when it's a slow burn. And ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY COMMUNICATE. It was a little iffy on the communication there for a second, but only cause Pip was so busy. But it was mutual!! They were both aware!! It wasn't one-sided avoidance!!
Toby was literally so thoughtful and patient and caring. I FREAKING LOVE HIM. I loved that the romance was kinda on the back burner, though, too!

I feel like this story, for me, is really about the family and the expectations that come with family. Pippin had to learn to let go of what she was grasping onto with both hands. She had to believe that she was more than this job she was stuck with after her father died. Yes, the restaurant was there family's but it was all she was. She had to learn who she was outside of all these things that she felt defined her, like her sister or the restaurant.

Pippin's story arc through this book was endearing and definitely relatable. I spent so much of it being like, "same, girl." I love her. She is me. We are one. I love this book. And I LOVE TOBY. I am not afraid to yell it. Thanks, bye!

This book surprised me. I honestly didn’t think I was going to like it as much as I did. Friends to Lovers is not my favorite trope but Lauren Morrill sold it for me.

Pippin’s life is one upheaval over another. She can’t think straight. The only thing constant in her life is her friend Toby so starting to think he’s attractive in his scrubs is not helping matters. But Pippin can’t help herself.

This book was very comforting to me. I can tell within a chapter or two if I am gonna like a book. I was instantly hooked on it and finished it in 24 hours.

It’s an easy read, but it still has a lot of heart in it.

Thank you NetGalley and Lauren Morrill for the ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Lauren Morrill for an e-ARC of this book in exchange for a fair, honest review.

I liked the cover of this book and I loved the dedication!

The main character, Pippin, took a bit to grow on me. I didn't like her initial outbursts with her sister, but she ended up with redeeming qualities! Toby, her best friend, was easy to like/love (his "dad" jokes were great!). This friends-to-lovers trope (#guyfallsfirst) was fun and the "spicey" scenes weren't cringey.

I wished there was a bit more depth to the sale of the family restaurant and maybe a bit more between "Pepperoni" and "Pizza" but overall this was a fun read.

3.5/5 stars
Spice level 4/5
