Interesting subject matter, but could have been about 100 pages shorter.

I only give it below a 4 because I found myself getting distracted a lot when listening to the audiobook. I know that’s completely on me and I wish I was able to pay more attention. This is one I want to go back and read because the story of Ellen and William was so fascinating, but maybe it was the way the story was told that didn’t suck me in. Will definitely give it another go in the future.

About a third of the book is their escape from slavery. The other two thirds describe their travel in northern states and England as they spoke to abolitionists about their escape and their lives while enslaved. .
