I have to admit, I read this specifically for the Neil Gaiman Poison Ivy origin - I was curious to see what he was going to do with the character, after my previous not-great experiences with him writing female characters. I have to admit that this is probably the best take I've seen him do with a female character so far - more depth than in American Gods, and less one-note that Snow, Glass, Apples. Still, I'd really like to see him write a female character who isn't sensual and sexualized because so far that's all it seems like he's able to write and there's just something *off* about the way he even does that. Not my favorite take on Ivy, but probably the closest I've gotten to enjoying a female character written by Neil Gaiman.
