I really enjoyed the way that the narrator, Mary Jane, continued to grow while maintain her optimistic sense of the world. Her view of the world shapes that of all the other characters, and you as a reader. I adored the portrayal of Jimmy and his struggle with addiction, and how we band together with love to help provided more success in finding a way out of the maladaptive behavior. Her growth, love and acceptance is inspiring. What a great read. Highly, highly recommend.

I still have mixed feelings about this book and the characters, but the writing was so good. It was both sad and hopeful at the same time. A very well done coming of age story.

I loved this book so so much. UGH. I’m in love, this has such a special place in my heart. It is a book that transports you into this vivid, raw, warm, lively rich  world that claims you. Finding yourself sat with the characters sharing the moments, feeling their laughter, tears, troubles and a contagious sense of love that washes over and around you like their infectious harmonised spontaneous sing-alongs.
