This book was quite the wild ride.
I didn’t know what to expect, and that feeling stayed with me throughout the entire book.
You will be questioning what it real and what isn’t, the entire time. And honestly, I’m kind of still questioning afterward. Such a fun read if you just need something kind of different and strange. The audio book is kind of creepy, so if you can listen to it, I suggest that.
Thank you libro.fm for the advance listen!

I really enjoyed listening to this, I sped through it pretty quickly. The premise is trippy.. very 1950s perfect town with perfect neighbors…. You know something is off but it’s not exactly clear. It’s a little too idealistic . I don’t want to give too much away on the trope or comparisons however I highly suggest the audio, the narrator did a great job capturing the cadence of the characters which imo played a big part. A little eerie, a little speculative. I feel like this book was enjoyable but the speculative nerd in me would have liked more of a backstory. However I love the genre and enjoyed the premise - sometimes short and sweet is just as effective, I highly suggest giving this a go

The Memory Ward by Jon Bassoff is very highly recommended psychological suspense novel with a science fiction connection. This page-turner had me fully engaged and speculating right from the start.
The eerie and mysterious atmosphere created in The Memory Ward immediately appealed to me as the plot explores identity, memory, trauma, observation and suspicion.

This was so utterly BIZARRE. A fast paced, mind bending fever dream of a book that had me so confused but also captivated, unable to stop listening.
This was my first book by this author + they weren’t lying when they described it as a “russian doll of a novel”. Eerie, unsettling and riveting, this will pull you in headfirst + have you questioning reality as the truth is divulged piece by piece in a claustrophobic, nightmarish tale.
Although marginally repetitive at times due to the format (no spoilers but I did at one point think I’d accidentally started the book again🥲) this was spectacularly plotted and, after a slower start, picks up the pace and moves along quickly. A quick and entertaining read that read like a blend of 𝑑𝑜𝑛’𝑡 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑟𝑦 𝑑𝑎𝑟𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔 and 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑝𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑑 𝑤𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑠.

I ended up thinking about this while watching hockey so I muted the tv and listened to this…
Because the beginning of this was incredible. I was sooooooooo hooked with Hank… and now I’m just pissed.
It feels like going to your favorite restaurant and trying a new dish instead of the dish you get every single time…. And it’s terrible. Like worse than your usual dish…. Arghhhhhh!

Thank you Blackstone audio for the review copy of The Memory Ward, this was a wild and fascinating, kind of bonkers in a good way, audiobook. I have not read this this author before but will be looking for his next book!
What really worked as excellent narration from Bronson Pinchot that kept me engaged and set a moody, but also curious/quirky, tone that moved into growing suspense and suspicion as the main character uncovered what was happening around and to him. This is an excellent plot that is really well done on audio, I will be recommending this one for a while!

Wow! This was an unsettling and insidious quick read with chapters that flew by as I read and learned the stories of Wally, Hank, Catherine, and Victoria. It unravels quickly in this little town where everything is too perfect and all the neighbors are friendly and nothing ever changes. But then something does and that kept me hooked in reading this to find out the truth. Very like the Truman Show, though with a twist that make me think about what makes a person who they are? Are we the sum of our memories or something more? And would you change yourself if given the chance? So, loved this story and zipped right through it! It definitely makes me want to see what other books this author has written.
