I devoured this book- hahaha. Heh. Anyway, this was a wonderful spooky ride, legit made me shiver at times. I was dubious about the claims on the back of the book but this is one spooky number. While some of the writing was formulaic that horror writing was top-notch and chilling!

It did suffer from some outdated ableist language at times and I think like most YA books this could be served by having the characters be in college instead of high school. And despite not having queer rep I still enjoyed the hell out of this book. Wish it was better known and I will def be looking into a sequel.

I couldn't put this one down!!!

Reggie is a fan of horror stories so when she finds a manuscript in the bookstore she works at, she takes it with her. it's the story of the vours who come on Sorry night to devour the fears of a person and take their soul's place.

So Reggie and her friend Aaron decide to try it but nothing happens. Unbeknown to them though, the vours attack Reggie's little brother? it's up to her and Aaron to face their worst fears in order to save Henry.

Very well written, it keeps you wanting more. The action takes up speed 'till the final confrontation. I like the idea of confronting once fears and the background story is quite interesting. I'm curious to see what will happen next because I think this book would have been enough, not needing a sequel

Rereading a book from middle school. A simple story overall but moody enough that it's worth being a "get ready for spooky season" read. I'll probably read the sequels just to be a completionist.

Wow. I practically "devoured" this one. Haha, lame, I know.
No, I really enjoyed this one.

A book about fears that little creatures take advantage of to possess human bodies. Pretty awesome.

I liked Reggie's character. She was tough, kick-ass, a horror buff. Pretty awesome as well.
Henry was just meh to me, a little whiny guy. But then again, he's only eight..I really liked the Vour version of Henry, though. Sarcastic, mean, horrible and just a great antagonist.
I also liked Eben and Aaron, both great.
Eben as this wise father figure and Aaron as the spindly sidekick. Adorable.

I must say that I'm not a big fan of horror. I've watched a lot of horror movies "back in the day", when I was sixteen. And that was enough for me.
After that neither horror movies nor horror books.
But this one was great. I have to say that I loved the gore in this one. Would this book be a movie, I don't know..but as a book it really did impress me.

When dark creeps in and eats the light,
Bury your fears on Sorry Night.
For in the winter's blackest hours
Comes the feasting of the Vours.
No one can see it, the life they stole,
Your body's here but not your soul...

This book was creepy. Which is exactly what I was hoping for and expecting when going into it. That little rhyme up there, yeah that was on page four. It really set the tone for the entire book and believe me it definitely lived up to the creep factor portrayed in the little rhyme.

The vours were creepy. They honestly freaked me out. And then there were some of the scenes, like the one with the clown that had me to the point where I had to close the book for a few minutes. As someone who loves scary things, I was quite satisfied with this one. I kept reading this one well into the night, which wasn't such a smart idea.

There's so much happening in this book, Reggie had to deal with a lot which her brother becoming a little frightening just added to all of the stress she was under. And the whole having to live the nightmare's thing? That was awesome and freaky and if that wasn't enough, throw in a clown and spiders crawling all over Reggie and I found myself squirming in my seat.

The book kept a steady pace which really held my attention, the only thing that really seemed to be an issue is that the book read like something written for a much younger audience. Besides that I was very pleasantly surprised and will be reading the rest of this trilogy.

OH MY GOSH!!!

This book is GREAT! It was so well written and it actually had me creeped out a couple of parts. I couldn't put it down and finished it in one day.

I recommened this book to EVERYONE! I am not a big horror book fan, just because most writers go into TOOO much detail, but this book was a good balance. I just really hope they don't ruin it and make it into a movie..lol..

Wow, this books was a huge surprise! It's been sitting on my TBR list for a couple years now because every time I thought about reading it, I would look at the summary and think "Meh." It sounded interesting enough to read, but not enough to make a priority.

I have been super missing out. Despite this being YA, it's genuinely a really creepy book. If you are looking for a light horror read, I would definitely recommend it. It won bonus points for me because a lot of it reminded me vaguely of Joe Hill's NOS4A2 which is one of my favorite books of all time.

Aside from being creepy, which is one of my favorite things in a book, this has an awesome male female friendship, one of my other favorite things. This is so rarely done where a guy and a girl of high school age are genuinely friends and it's not just swimming in repressed sexual tension. But Aaron and Reggie are an awesome duo. To the point where if in the sequels they do get together, I am all for it but if they don't, I'll be even happier.

I don't really have anything bad to say about this at all. If it's been sitting around for you, bump it up. It's a really good read.

This is a great creepy, quick read. Can't wait for the next installment. Great characters, great monsters, awesome.

Wow, what a creepy little horror story that made me think about what my fears are and how I'd go with confronting them like our protagonists in this story did. Such a great read!
