This is not my normal sort of story. YA contemporary is iffy for me, and the main character here is unlikeable to an extent that would normally have me noping out fast. However, she does get an intriguing character arc, and, the main thing that kept me reading--there is an amazingly meta, fourth wall winking format.
I did also like the multi-faceted way racial issues were handled in the story.
