A Slow Fire Burning by Paula Hawkins

Always high expectations for Paula Hawkins bc of girl on the train. I’m seeing a lot of low ratings for this book and I couldn’t disagree more. It’s certainly not your run of the mill psychological thriller, more like domestic noir. The writing itself is SO GOOD, the characters are very developed and nuanced. I had such vivid imagery in my head while reading this book. It’s not a compulsive read type of book but well worth the time for the story to unfold. Those who don’t like it can find some cheap thrill because this book is stellar.

Good, but not as compelling as The Girl on the Train.

This was pretty good! Reminds me a little bit of a show I just watched. I didn’t expect the ending until I got close to finding out the truth, so that was great!

Book won’t be for everyone. I wanted to get to the end to uncover the mystery but the characters were not likeable

I can't understand the hype and the rave reviews this book gathered. It's quite bad, with a very predictable plot, shallow characters and a very messy mingling of plot lines. The plot only makes sense because someone really wanted it to make sense and all the connections feel shoehorned and not natural at all.
