I'm so happy I no longer have to painstakingly copy down all the monster stats into my notebook and can instead just take note of the page! Also, really cool art and I love all the lore, even though it's not necessarily relevant to someone playing in the Critical Role universe.

Loved going through all these monsters since I was so familiar with them from the original Monster Manuals - I probably re-read those 100 times, though that was 40 years ago! Fun to see the updates and colorful art.

Great inspiration for any GM and honestly the only book you need from 5e.
The layout gives the Pathfinder Bestiary a run for its money and lets it bite the dust.
The art does leave a bit to be desired though as it has a very photo like quality to it instead of something I want to insert into my Roll20 and show to my players. Would have liked some more action poses and dangerous looking compositions.
But the writing is great and the art gives you just enough to get you started to alter it into your own twisted creation.
Highly recommended!

Solidly written monster manual. There have been enough over the years to compare, and this one is certainly the right mix of monsters, with some solid lore and mechanics. Good art too. I would only ask for more lore to use, but that is maybe more suited for articles on the website.
