I am previewing this book to give to one of my children who is in the midst of a real depressive slump. Tung writes beautifully and, in my opinion, accurately about the struggles one faces not only from outside forces but from internal ones. I like that she doesn’t ever try to say that it will all get better and better - she talks about the realities of good and bad. I love that she talks about what I tell my son (and myself) all the time - find little joys, realize how much more important they are than you give them credit for, and hold them up.

Tung's graphic memoir takes you on a journey from her darkest moments deep in depression to seeking help to using coping techniques learned in therapy. Much of what she shared will be relatable to anyone who has struggled with mental illness (I saw myself reflected a lot!); for those who don't know that struggle, it's a very accessible portrayal. As much self-help as memoir, Everything is OK is a hopeful and affirming read worth your time.

Beautiful use of colors, an incredibly empathetic story with just a few words and panels.
