The Compound

Compound was a good read. I thought it was a unique read that hasn't been done before. I will say it was pretty predictable though. You got an idea very early on what exactly was going to happen, so it didn't really leave you hoping or guessing anywhere. I'm not sure if I want to read book two.

A re-read....in anticipation of teaching it to my 9th graders next year. This book still hooked me. Off to reread the sequel.

really good liked eli and the story, easy read

My initial reaction is to just sit here and stare at a wall in shock. I’m not sure what I expected when I started this book, but it was so much more complicated, so much more twisted than I could have imagined.

There’s almost nothing I could say without giving spoilers or depriving you of learning just what’s going on on your own.

So, I’ll keep it simple. If you liked the movie Blast From the Past, you’ll probably like this book. If you followed he stories of Jaycee Duggard, Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina Roderiques with a horrified fascination, you WILL love this book.

I have the sequel and I’m about to pull it out (this was a pretty quick read). I read a review that said it was unnecessary and not as good, but I’m not one to leave a series unfinished.

Even though this had a slow start, the ending is where it’s at!

Slow start and a little confusing in the beginning but overall a good read, had a lot of good twists and it really got my blood pumping.

This plot twist in this book was completely unexpected for me! I had my jaw dropped on a couple different occasions when reading, and even goosebumps at one point. The reason for my rating is I just felt like the main character Eli had such a wild 180 flip in character/values that it became difficult to stay enthralled in the story. I think had the change in character been more gradual, it would’ve been more believable and realistic.
