I had so much fun reading this book. It was very insightful and takes you on a rollercoaster journey of all the characters.
Super easy read and entertaining.
I would highly recommend!

4.5 stars. A good story when I was expecting a romance! Felt a little preachy at times, and there was a moment when I really didn't like the main character. But the ending was worth it.

A good story about loving yourself with good characters and insight into Nigerian culture. But honestly, fell a little short for me, just lacked luster.

Absolutely loved this book, cover to cover. The similarities between Nigerian (the main character) and Indian (me) cultures truly crystallize in every detail of this book. From the strong sense of community (all the aunties!)… to the devout faith and reliance on religion to solve all things… to the focus on “doctor, engineer, lawyer… and to an extent, finance and banking” as the only “successful” career paths… to the bluntness of the elder figures… to the unashamedly blatant colorism references… to the belief that one must be married by the time they’re i.e. 28… to the never ending parental worries if that isn’t the case… to the insecurities that arise from growing up with such cultural pressures / expectations… to standing up for what you believe in… to the strong female friendships (my favorite part) - this book (and Yinka in particular) spoke to me on so many levels. I couldn’t put this DOWN. So heartwarming and heartwrenching, EVERYONE will be rooting for Yinka!

Why’d I pick this? Books with Taylor
