Thank you NetGalley for this Audio Arc in Exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars. One of the best romances I've read in awhile. This is a debut, and I cannot wait to see what Chamberlain writes in the future. This romance had so much depth and tackled issues like neurodiversity, addiction, grief, trauma, and more! I loved the way the relationship developed, and how it reflected where each character was at in life and in dealing with past issues and traumas. Very well written and engaging. Oh.....and I always love when a book contains foodie elements!

Ellie is a ghostwriter for cookbooks and Kieran is her latest celebrity chef project. They couldn’t be more opposite and can’t get along at all. She is still healing from past trauma and doesn’t want to let anyone into her life beyond a professional level. After a forced weekend away and a faked date to appease family, they begin to realize there might be more there than they originally thought.

I took a chance on this book based on the fact that I enjoy cooking shows and several of the tropes here. However, the title should have given me a big clue. It was a very slow read to the point that it felt much longer than it was. There were too many things going on and too much family drama and difficult characters on both sides. While I can appreciate representation and heavy topics when done well, here it felt like there were too many and it just took away from any romance that could develop. I also struggled to like the MMC after some of his initial behavior. I acknowledge that this book was just not for me but would probably appeal to other readers. If you enjoy a very slow building romance, a focus on family drama/grief/family dynamics, or plus size/ Jewish/ ADHD representation, then this may be a great book for you!

Thank you to the author and St. Martin’s Griffin for the early digital copy and opportunity to review.

This was such a cute and sweet book. The blend of romance, tension, and drama was perfect. I loved the playful banter between the two main characters and how different their personalities were, but how perfect their chemistry was. This was a sweet quick read, that had swoony moments, emotional moments, and inspiring moments. Keeping me eagerly turning each page!

3⭐️

The Slowest Burn is a cute, easy read and definitely for fans of Tessa Bailey.

As much as I enjoyed reading the book, I don’t think it quite deserved more than 3 stars. I found some of the dialogue as well as the characters actions, so be quite awkward and cringey. They’re supposed to be 27 & 31/2 (I can’t quite remember Ellie’s age) and this definitely didn’t translate to the page.

I did enjoy the cooking references and loved the process of cookbook writing with ghostwriters, it was definitely interesting and fun to read.

All in all, if you’re looking for a quick, easy read, I would recommend this.

This was comically terrible. The level of specificity about the bay was exciting at first, but we’re supposed to believe that this chick drives 1.5-2 hrs one way every week to see her in-laws…can’t catch anyone doing that lol
