I wanted a sweet, feel good romance and that is exactly what I got! I loved both Ellie and Kieran and just wanted the best for both of them. There were a lot of layers to the story, including how our parents affect us as adults and how difficult it can be to be true to ourselves. Highly recommended!

Definitely not my cup of tea. I have tried very much to read this but i couldn’t connect and continue reading about the characters, unfortunately i couldn’t find them enjoyable and although the story was what attracted me to this book, it lacked something im afraid

This was really cute overall. The exploration of grief was really interesting, particularly the relationship with Ellie's in-laws. I thought the plot was great and really liked the forced proximity/black-cat golden retriever-ness/enemies to lovers of it all. Loved the ADHD representation!

Was it a slow burn? Not in terms of spice. Once it heated up, a little under two-thirds of the way through, it burned bright. The slow burn came in the emotional growth of the two characters. Chamberlain did such a wonderful job establishing depth in Kieran and Ellie, and it was a joy to see them discover how they are both whole but can be whole with each other. It's a take that I don't see very often (but you also don't often see a short MMC, a younger MMC, or a plus-sized FMC where being plus-sized isn't her personality). It did a nice job of exploring learning disabilities, guilt after loss, and grief. I adored all of the cooking references and the look at cookbook ghostwriters - I had no idea the amount of work that went into cookbooks, and I have a whole new appreciation for them!

I was super excited to read this debut novel for its interesting, fresh concept and its diversity. I enjoyed the mental health, neurodivergence, and plus size representation. The romance fell flat for me as I felt that the two main characters didn’t have much chemistry and contrary to the title, they felt very insta-lusty. It took me a little bit to get into the story, and from there the plot never really picked up for me and it was definitely a slow read because of that.
