This is another fab addition to the Sparrow Falls series. It hits the same notes as the previous books - swoon worthy steamy times, suspense and just so many heart-melting moments.
Sutton has left her past firmly behind and moved to Sparrow Falls with her young son, Luca, determined to make a new life for them. She wants to provide a life of safety and peace for Luca, working herself ragged to run her bakeryand give Luca everything he needs. I love Sutton’s determination to stand on her own two feet, but she’s only human and when a slimy landlord makes it impossible for her to stay in their home, the extended Colson clan are there for her. It made my heart all mushy at how they were such a solid support for her and folded her and Luca into their family.
Cope Colson is a hotshot hockey player, with a reckless attitude…at least that’s how the world sees him. Really, he’s struggling to manage his demons from his childhood trauma and is getting unfairly pummelled by the media. He comes home to Sparrow Falls to take some much needed downtime and to coach at the local kids’ hockey camp. It’s there that he meets Sutton and the attraction is immediate.
I loved the connection between Sutton and Cope. Yes, the physical attraction is fiery and the steamy scenes are on point. But it was the trust and intimacy that grew between the two that melted my heart. They became each other’s support and confidantes.
Luca was a freaking sweetheart. The scenes between him and Cope could be really fun but there were some that turned me into a weepy mess. There was never any hesitation on Cope’s part and their bond was the sweetest.
I did take a correct guess at the villains of the story, but of course there were other twists I didn’t see coming. The suspense elements slowly ratchet up as the story progresses which gives the book a simmering tension, until it all comes to a head.
My heart broke for both Sutton and Cope so it was so satisfying to see them persevere together and claim their happiness. The ending was so freaking cute and I had the biggest grin on my face. Can’t wait for Arden’s story next - she’s such an enigma!

I'd completely forgotten cope's image issues at the beginning of the book so the marcus twist was very out of left field for me

I fell in love with Sutton and Cope even more in this book after seeing them in the others. A single mum and a pro hockey player, oh yes! Luca was just the sweetest seven year old!
