I don’t think this series is meant to be binged. I absolutely loved the first one, but by book three the formula is ridiculously repetitive.

After loving Thea and Shep’s story, I was eager to dive into Sutton and Cope’s book. I should have realized, though, that I enjoy Catherine Cowles’ books more when I don’t read them back-to-back. It’s hard not to focus on the plot similarities when reading them so close together. As a result, I don’t think I enjoyed this book as much as I might have otherwise

I found there was very little build up to Sutton and Cope’s relationship. Their feelings seem to come out of the blue and I would have liked to see more of their friendship on page. At one point, Suttton refers to Cope as her best friend and I was honestly surprised. There was very little evidence of this on page (too much telling, not enough showing)

The highlight of this book was definitely Luca and how he bonded with Cope through hockey. Catherine Cowles definitely knows her way around a single parent romance.

I am still looking forward to continuing this series but definitely plan on waiting before picking up the next book

Broken Harbor was another stunning addition to Catherine Cowles’ series—filled with heart, heat, and that signature emotional punch she delivers so well. While Fragile Sanctuary still holds the top spot as my personal favorite, this one came so close. The characters, the chemistry, the healing journey—it all hit just right

I absolutely loved watching this strong, selfless single mom finally let someone in. After everything she’d been through, seeing her allow herself to be cared for—truly cared for—was beautiful and empowering. It broke my heart to watch people she trusted twist her kindness into weakness… but the moment Cope stepped in? I was all in.

Cope Colson might be a beast on the ice, but off it? He’s the softest, most protective, quietly swoony hero you could ask for. The way he looked after her and her son, the gentleness layered beneath all that strength—it was everything. Their connection was magnetic, their trust and healing felt so real, and when things heated up? Whew. 🔥

Catherine Cowles continues to masterfully blend suspense, emotional depth, and tender romance in a way that keeps me turning the pages and counting down to the next book. Speaking of which… I really hope it’s Linc and Arden’s story next. I need it!

Highly recommend for fans of protective heroes, resilient heroines, and small-town stories packed with tension and redemption.
