comfortably predictable. single mom/hockey player. insta love. they’re both dealing with traumatic pasts.

Catherine Cowles has the smut formula DOWN. A little tragedy, a little suspense, a lot of found family, a lot of smut. It’s a little cheesy at times and there’s usually a nickname that is insufferable but her books are like rewatching your favorite series for the tenth time. One thing I wish I had done is waited until the entire series was finished and just binged them all back to back. There are like 9 siblings/foster siblings/friends and I’ll read 3 paragraphs and be like wait who is that????

Solid continuation of the series! I think I liked this couple a little more, as I always loved a sports MMC, especially when he plays hockey! I love that I still can’t ever predict who the baddie is going to be, so really enjoy this authors ability to pull a fast one on me. Excited for the next book in march!

“I could give her a beautiful apartment that would always be a safe harbor for her.”

Seriously, suspect everyone and trust no one when reading a Cather Cowles’ book. I am 0.5/24 in guessing the suspect. (I’m giving myself half credit for almost guessing the suspect in Beneath the Wreckage). We have the story of Sutton and Cope. Sutton owns the bakery in Sparrow Falls, the Mix Up. She is a single mom that is in hiding. Her ex is mixed up with drugs and the bratva. Cope is one of the many Colson siblings. He plays hockey and is back in Sparrow Falls trying to fix his image after news reports posted article of him getting into a fight with a teammate. Sutton’s son, Luca (who is just the cutest seven year old), is signed up for hockey camp. That’s where the two meet and begin their love story. Broken Harbor has everything you love about books by Catherine Cowles. There is romance, mystery, some suspense, found family, and of course a grandmother who will always bring levity into any situation (Grandma Lolli is a hoot!).

Not the best book by her sadly but I will still finish this series
