After reading the 500 torturingly slow pages of a story progressing into nothingness (Really, what is that "plot" even?), I had to add a new shelf called "boring as hell".

Such an interesting premise but not that great of a book.

Erste Hälfte sehr interessant. Zweite Hälfte eher weniger so.

I don’t think I liked a single character in the book. At the beginning I kinda liked dawn but as the story progressed it felt like the author switched her character. Tbh this is a very weird mixture of lord of the flies and the scarlet letter. I love both of those books but absolutely despised these characters.
Dawn ended up becoming some weird version of Hester from the scarlet letter. They have a simple character arch but with Hester everything felt genuine and true for her love of Pearl. However with Dawn it just felt selfish and it never seemed like she fully thought about her decision. And then at the end to go panic pixie girl and screw over her best friend to stay in the enclosure doesn’t have the same warmth of Hester staying in the forest with pearl.
