This book looks at fashion history from the prespective of social justice laws. It looks at how dress plays a role in social power focusing on in formal to legally binding dress codes from the medical period to the modern day. Some topics covered includes suptuary laws, inforced Jewish dress codes in the mediveal period, cross dressing in the renassiance, veiling practices multiple religions, fashion in the racial justice movement in America, the evolution of women's fashion with the feminist movements, dress codes in work places and schools, and current day casual dress codes.

All the trigger warnings are from the author looking at past and current events and seen from a scholarly perspective. They are not graphic in nature and they are looking directly at the problem to analyze its affect of people and culture.
