Damaged characters who may provide redemption for each other are the heart and soul of this work. Written through their conflicting voices (both internal and external) and sprinkled with Maori phrases and sensibilities, this is a beautiful, sad, intriguing piece.

This is a strange book; difficult to read. Much of it is internal dialogue, and half the time I couldn't tell whose internal dialogue it was. Compelling and tragic characters, but it didn't feel cohesive, and the ending felt rushed and cryptic. Loved parts of it, but overall I do not recommend. It was too much work for far too little payoff.
