This was cute and fun and perfect for a summer read. Joni is a hit songwriter who has major writer’s block. She goes home to her family’s beach town in the Outer Banks for the summer, and she’s faced with her mother’s worsening dementia and a lot changing. Then she starts hearing someone in her head, and after she determines that she is not losing her mind, she realizes the voice is none other than boy band icon Sebastian Fell. Sebastian comes to Joni’s town to figure out their situation, and naturally sparks ensue.
This was enjoyable! Nothing revolutionary per se, but I found the characters relatable and the conflicts realistic. You can always depend on Ashley Poston for a low-key and sweet

I fucking loved this book. Basically there’s two big plot lines, a love story between a songwriter and a washed up boy bander and the beginnings of the songwriter’s mother’s dementia. Both are done so, so well.
First, the love story is fantastic. The FMC and the MMC can inexplicably hear each other’s thoughts - and they’re both hot, so there is some fun, spicy flirting involved. I loved these characters, they felt so real and so meant to be that I was giggling and kicking my feet allllllll day.
Then there’s the mother and her dementia, which is handled so heartbreakingly beautifully. Poston is masterful when it comes to grief, portraying the slow loss of a loved one who is still there physically in a way that will ravish your heart and leave you begging for more.

This was such a cute story. I’ve rounded it from a 3.75 to a 4 because of the nostalgia of the Outer Banks. I’ve had family living there and been staying there for summers for my whole life and some moments felt so OBX (horses and Duck) and some moments felt like what you think OBX is :) I just felt like this was cute and sweet. So easy to read and I loved the addition of a touch of magic.

I did really enjoy this book--it isn't my favorite of hers, but in some ways I liked the magical elements of this one the best. I just didn't fully love the romance of this one--it wasn't as developed as others, instead the focus was more on Jodi trying to figure out what is next in her life and deal with her mom's dementia diagnosis. Recommend if you have enjoyed others from this author, but not my first recommend from her.

I just want another Seven Year Slip from Poston!!! I feel like this one had so much potential but it just dragged... it was predictable, too long, lacking banter and swoony romance. I finished it, but barely.
