God I just love Ashley's work. She simply excels at incorporating moments of magical realism throughout her novels and always has the perfect balance of grief and those rom com moments that we love.

As someone in the entertainment industry, I HEAVILY related to this one. Sounds Like Love really brings dreams to the forefront: Are our dreams worth the price of leaving family? What happens when our dreams are finally achieved? Is it worth it to follow our dreams?

I really enjoyed seeing Joni war with her inner thoughts throughout. I felt that the emotion and decision making felt incredibly real and raw and I loved getting to see her find her way back to herself.

I loved the element of magical realism where Joni and Sebastian could hear one another's thoughts! It was such a unique element to the plot and honestly made for such an enjoyable reading experience.

Anyone working in a creative field needs to read this one!!!

Thank you Berkley Romance and Ashley Poston for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Sounds Like Love by Ashley Poston is a standalone romance blended with magical realism. I absolutely loved this book and it easily catapulted into one of my fave books of the year.

This is one of those books where I knew it’d be a five star read for me after only a couple of pages. It’s a beautiful blend of music and romance and magical realism and grief and nostalgia and change. It’s just perfect. Ashley Poston’s writing captures the beauty and magic of music in a delightful way.

Getting lost in this book feels a bit like getting lost in a song. I love the descriptive writing and how relatable and realistic the characters are. And the little things, like, I love that the chapters have titles. And then I realized that I think the chapter titles are song names! Pieces of Joni’s character really struck a chord with me. And I really felt for Sebastian and his inner turmoil. I couldn’t help but root for their budding romance and their unique connection, but also for them to find their own joy in life.

I love reading books that make me *feel* them, and this one absolutely does. I found myself so, SO caught up in it. This spoke to me in a way I was utterly unprepared for and it left me super emotional. To say I loved it is an understatement.

No one call pull off romance with magical realism quite like Ashley Poston. There is something so enchanting about how she weaves it into the story so well you almost forget that it’s there

This book felt like a love letter to music, with so many subtle references and winks.

There were also undertones of melancholy that fit the musical backdrop so well. Prepare your heartstrings accordingly

The one thing I love about Ashley Poston is her books  focus on real life but she adds whimsey to each store which I adore and this book did not disappoint!
I loved the characters, the bond  between Sebastian between and Joni. I loved the invisible string that connected them absolutely adorable!

The way she wrote the struggle of dealing with the early stages of dementia not only from the perspective of the person with the disease but the family coming to terms with the reality and what is to come was very realistic and very well thought through

Overall this was a super cute magical realism read
