I'm a lover of weird and aliens/monster romance but this one just couldn't keep me interested. Too slow for such a short story I think? Idk it just wasn't for me.

Short, but so good. I loved the characters and the world. Its a fast paced adventure, but Sian and Trillian are cute and I loved Bunny.

i love weird monster romances so much and this was such a great one!

the worldbuilding is exceptional given that there is such little time to do it in and the characters are so, so loveable.

because it was short i definitely was left with an extreme need to finish the series so that i could really get more time with Trillian and Sian. i'm greedy so i would have loved to have a trilogy of this world and these characters with full length novels! but alas, i do agree that the length of the novella still works well and i'm glad to get the peek i did get

This reads like a gifted teenager wrote it. The protagonist is beyond belief stupid and selfish. I can't see them as a "researcher" although the idea of a secret witch faculty in a university is cool. I wasn't sure, the book seemed to switch between secret witch faculty and the whole university is witches. The former is cooler.

I liked the idea that the university buildings were so labrynthine that noone could find the secret witch section...this checks out from every university I have ever been in, including Otago which I suppose is the model for this.

I found it hard to get into the romance but I hold space for "jokes on you, I fuck monsters" attitude without understanding it. In that sense at least it was sweet and consensual. The stealing of "Bunny" not so much and this is where it seemed childish of the protagonist. "I am a serious researcher but I will grab a radom organism to keep as a cute pet and not even expect consequences..." er...what?

Leave your brain at the door if you want to have any fun. It's short and doesn't draw out any scenes too long so there is that.

eldritch creature x deranged scientist with no regard for personal safety and a thing for tentacles. this was high art, 10/10 would recommend, I love gay people

That was oddly charming and entertaining. I'm not sure what else to say other than the writing is pretty hilarious and the protagonists, one human and the other...not human...are extremely likable.
