Talk about your Romeo and Juliet story! This graphic novel asks a lot of questions about love, how do we know people, and even about gender and expression. While I had a few bumps, overall a terribly interesting and thoughtful book, with some clever, sweet illustrations.

the artwork is absolutely gorgeous and it helps enhance the story. i’m appreciative of what was included from the novel and what was left out,
especially david levithan’s fatphobic descriptions for day 6025, but they still included alexander’s treehouse and the splenda heart at the diner.
the same wonderful story, but almost shrunk down to size, in a way.

As someone who read this entire book in one sitting when it first came out, I was intrigued by this graphic novel adaptation. I'm not really sure the story itself translates well into a graphic novel format, as there's a lot of internal monologues that happen in the prose version of this story. Something about Levithan's prose is also a little lost in this adaptation.

There are some nice panels, but the art style wasn't particiularly my favorite. I wanted a little more detail in some of the people, I think. The colors were really nice, though! Especially in the scenes that were given a full page.

All in all, some mixed feelings about this adaptation. I'm not sure how they're picking YA novels to adapt, but they are definitely picking some interesting ones.

I read the original book years ago and this graphic novel adaptation is incredibly well done and I actually think I prefer it to what I remember of the original book (tho I haven’t read that in years so who knows)
It makes me want to go back and read the sequels to the original Every Day to see what develops for A
