This was kind of slow and a bit boring till about half way point and then boy did it get good! It was also around this time I realized that one of the seasons of the Bosch show was based on this book but the book was different enough that I was still in suspense.

My first taste of Harry Bosch was underwhelming. He sounds like a stereotypical tough cop pitched against bent colleagues and a corrupt legal system. I don’t think I will bother reading another book in this popular series as this seemed more an action movie script than a novel. 2.5 stars

Book #61 read in 2014

Bosch at his ornery, brilliant best.

Another one of Connelly's great books staring main character Detective Bosch. I didn't see the end coming once again and connect all of the people that were involved in this crime- he really pulled it off and makes you think twice when people freely admit to crimes they have committed. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more of his books.

Not a bad audiobook (though my standard for comparison was low...I'm finishing one other one, and it is not very good). I've only listened to two audiobooks ever, but I really hate when male readers do female voices. Why are they all so breathy!?

Anyway, I didn't realize Harry Bosch was an ongoing character, but it was an entertaining story despite the cheesiness.

After watching the first season of Bosch I was hooked. This was the book that I could not wait to read for so long. I had to go in order in order to get the whole back story to Harry Bosch.

The way that Michael Connelly writes and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The way that he makes the suspects so twisted is just great. The little twist and turn that happening the last 75- 100 pages really throw you for a loop. Parties that you never had suspected to be involved are involved.

If you have never read a Michael Connelly book this was great and if you pick it up from here you will be hooked.

Thank you Mr. Connelly for giving us such a great character and series.
