The ending was a bit wacko but the rest of the story was good

Tropes/Themes:
-MF contemporary romance
-Grieving characters (heroine lost her husband, hero lost his wife and son)
-Very emotional, deals heavily with grief and loss
-Dual POV
-First in a series but can be read as a standalone

TWs loss of a loved one, loss of a child, traumatic death, MVC, grief, suicidal ideation, suicide attempt

Man, Brittainy C Cherry sure knows how to write a romance with an emotional punch! This book focuses on shared grief, trauma, what it means to “move on”, and how everyone is deserving of unconditional love. Tristan and Elizabeth are definitely my favorite BCC couple to date. My only complaint was that I felt like the romance was a little rushed at times. I almost wish this book had been a little longer to allow more time for the relationship to get more flushed out. Regardless, I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more from BCC in the future!

It was an okay plot-- although it is still a little cliche (insta coincidental plot twist/ convenient plot twist).

I’m giving this one a 3 1/2 Star rating.

First off I saw the twist coming a mile away. Second I REALLY didn’t how Tristian and Liz used each other during the first half of the book. Honestly it kinda creeped me out, and made their relationship not as special to me.

I loved Emma and Fayes characters. Overall I enjoyed this story, but it’s not my favorite by this author.

Wow… there are no words. Like I’m literally sitting here speechless. The raw, heartfelt grief, and pain that you feel while reading this book… it was like I was them in their minds feeling that pain right along with them. I just…Wow. So beautifully written and painfully heart wrenching while still being (idk what the word is) light hearted or fun..? I guess. There are moments where you wanna just sob with and for these characters and then there’s these times where you just laugh, like there’s this scene where he helps her friend put dog shit on some guys porch and that whole scene just had me cracking up.
I think it resonated with me because that’s how real grief works. Somebody dies and everyone is crying and then some random thing will happen and every person just starts laughing and the grief let’s up for a brief minute and you can breath, at least in my experience this is how it happens.

I will say this… there’s a plot twist that I saw coming and then there’s one I did not see coming so I guess thats something. The book could’ve been barely longer just because it felt like a lot of the “action” I guess was kinda crammed into the last 20% so it all feels a bit rushed, but Anyway that did not bring my rating down cuz I was already in love with the first 80% and I didn’t hate the end it just all happens so fast.

DNF at 39%. I had high hopes for this one! It began with such promise. I felt that with as much emotional baggage as the MMC had, the sexual progression should have taken longer. But, in addition to that I was also fine with the spice. Eager for the emotions to be hacked out at a later time. But the Author did such a disservice to the readers with the very vague and “fast forwarding” sexual interactions. It left me puzzled that, both, but mainly the MMC who had so much anger in him was so readily to give his body over to this stranger. And we didn’t get to see that as readers. It was just passed over. I see where the Author was trying to land but I feel it was a miss. Pace needed to be slowed down in my opinion. I would have truly loved the slow and steady pace with the elements in this book.
