Another amazing book in the Donner Bakery Series!! Frankie and Gunnar are all the things when it comes to romance! Frankie is an ER nurse with no time for love and Gunner is at a crossroads of his career. Frankie has no time for Gunner but what she does not know is that he is determined for her to see that he is a great guy! I loved this book and if you have not been reading the Smartypants romance books you are missing out!
Absolutely LOVED this addition to the Donner Bakery series, and the Smartypants Romance set of books! Frankie is a little firecracker with commitment issues and Gunnar is the hot younger brother of Cage from "Stud Muffin". Jiffy Kate did a wonderful job of expanding on Green Valley and bringing new life to the small town! There is a lot of backstory and history for these two characters, there for a lot to bring to the table in a new relationship. It's much more slow burn, but the build of this foundation is beautiful. Obsessed with these characters. Can't wait to get my paperback and get this one on my shelf!
What can I say? Gunner "The Show" Erickson is the complete package and totally perfect for Frankie Reeves. I loved the angle the authors took with fitting this story in the Green Valley Universe. You don't have to have read the Winston Brothers series first, but it truly helps underscore the full impact of the big reveal late in the story. So many feels - and I hope this one comes out on audiobook at some point so I can relish it all over again in a new way. Highly recommend.
4.5 Stars
Beef Cake was a great way to kick off the second round of Smartypants Romance novels. This was my first time reading Jiffy Kate, and I was instantly hooked.
I loved Frankie, she was such a gem. I adored her so much. She was so resilient and strong despite her difficult past. Frankie is slow to trust and she doesn’t let her guard down, but truly wants for someone to comfort her and be there for her. She’s built her walls sky high and it’ll take someone with patience and care to break them down.
Gunnar completely and utterly stole my heart. I was captivated by him. His character was the opposite of what you would expect from a MMA fighter. He was so sweet and thoughtful with a heart so pure. He fought hard in the ring, but his toughest fight was fighting harder when it came to earning Frankie’s trust and heart. He was patient and didn’t push Frankie and waited until she was ready to open up to him. I loved him and his caring heart so much.
Frankie and Gunnar were truly the best. It took time for them to come together even though their attraction for each other was undeniable. Gunnar was exactly what Frankie needed and it was a joy to watch them grow together and overcome personal obstacles. They made quite the perfect pair—I loved them.
Beef Cake is an emotional slow burning love story that was beautifully pieced together. The characters are both enjoyable and lovable. Frankie and Gunnar have an irresistible love story that was deeply felt and left me smiling from ear-to-ear.

I found it kind of boring and I don’t know why. The other books in this series I’ve loved, but this one I couldn’t find it in me to really like it. Gunnar was awesome, but I didn’t really feel much chemistry with Frankie, and sometimes I just found her annoying, I don’t know.
What is hotter than a Viking MMA fighter? How about a Viking MMA fighter with a gooey center that just makes you want to squeeze him and never let go?
Gunnar “The Show” Erickson has come to Tennessee to train with his brother Cage, and he has one focus, to become the best MMA fighter he can be. But then after one trip to the ER, his focus definitely took a turn.
This is the second book in Jiffy Kate’s “Fighting for Love” series and this one really takes that seriously. It is a fight for Frankie to come to terms with her past and let go, but can she do it?
This is so much more than an opposites attract trope, the emotional growth that both characters achieve is substantial and it will simply make you fall in love with these two.
I really love this series and these characters, Jiffy Kate continues to give us just what we need, and it’s wonderful to be able to escape to Green Valley. Do not miss out on this series, no you don’t have to read them all, but why would you want to miss out on all of this swoon?

These ladies have yet to write anything that I don't just L-O-V-E!!
I wasn't sure they could top Tempest & Cage. Then along came Gunnar & Frankie. My oh my!
Lots of secrets. Lots of backstory. Lots of angst. But in true JK style it's also funny, and steamy, and there's a big family element involved.
I loved watching the big MMA fighter, Gunnar, be so tender and sweet and allow Frankie the time she needed to let him in. And watching Frankie slowly open up and allow him in just made my heart melt.
As always, excellent side characters which just add so much to the story! I love how they are able to intertwine the side characters' stories to reflect things with the main characters as well. Such amazing storytellers!
As always, Jiffy Kate had me flipping pages and finishing in a day! Another fabulous read ladies!
