A quick fun dip into Lark Cove in Montana. I really enjoyed this novel! It was engaging the dynamics between Thesa and Logan were sparkly and realistic. I would have give this novel 5 stars if it were a wee bit longer. I don't think the ending was particularly rushed, but it was have been interesting to investigate and witness (rather then be 'told) how Thesa made peace with her past, or even how things panned out with Logan's family.

I look forward to reading the next book, Willa and Jackson's story (even though Jackson's debut in this novel wasn't very 'appetising' shall we say...) soon ;) x

Een boek dat lekker weg leest. Ik hou altijd wel van small town life. Ik ergerde me af en toe wel aan de arrogantie van de mannelijke hoofdpersoon.

“People always wanted what was out of their reach. And this man was so far out of my reach, he might as well be standing on the moon.”

Charlie is the real mvp in this book. From being the fastest sperm to the badass “I am not like other girls”, she slayed on every page and she's only six years-old. I loved her so much and she deserves her own book.

Tattered follows the story of Thea, a single mom to the cutest six year-old Charlie, and Logan the billionaire. Thea and Logan had one night stand in New York but later she moved to Lark Cove to build a new and beautiful life for herself and her daughter. Logan came out in Lark Cove to buy a camp and gotten a five year-old daughter as a bonus. Logan is determined to make up for all the time he lost and Thea is determined to not get attached to the handsome billionaire. But who were they kidding? They decided to step up into this co-parenting and get to know each other routine but Loan wants more and Thea too, but their worlds and lives are too different for them to be together. I liked how they both tried their best to understand each other's lives and it was a beautiful transition to see them fall in love with each other.

“I wasn’t just coming back for Charlie, but for her too.”

I was a bit hesitant to read this book because of the surprise baby trope because this is such a hit or miss trope for me, but gladly this book served this trope on all front. I liked Devney's writing. It's simple and easy to read but it also has depth to it because she knows how to write her characters and I liked how she enhances them throughout the story.

➸ Thea: I have a soft spot for characters like Thea. Thea is an incredible mother and she knows her worth and what she wants in her life and never shy away from asking that. She's strong-willed and determined and I liked how even though she was scared of Logan disappointing her and her daughter because of what she's been through in the past, she took a step forward and let him in for their daughter and for herself too.

“Present- day Thea wanted more than a memory. She wanted a man who would kiss her every morning. A man who would kiss her before falling asleep every night. She needed a man who would share in the life she’d worked hard to build in Lark Cove. The man disappearing around the block— the one who lived a world away— wasn’t him.”

➸ Logan: Logan was amazing and I loved how remarkably forebearing he was with Thea and Charlie. He was a bit annoying with how he wanted Thea and Charlie to move with him to New York even though he was literally married to his job but I get why he did that because he justed wanted Charlie and Thea with him after all the years he lost. The way he made his space in Charlie's life as her father and how they both bonded over the things they loved was so precious.

“Good night, Charlie.” I pulled her closer into my side and kissed her forehead.
“You’re coming back?”
I rested my cheek against her hair. “I’ll always come back for you.”

I loved the romance. Thea and Logan definitely had chemistry and sparks so I didn't care about the insta-love. Devney explored Thea and Logan's relationship as well as their new co-parenting situationship so well in this book and the secret baby trope was executed perfectly and it did not felt forced at all. I loved their family bonding moments even though the New York visit was a total cluster fuck. The drama was entertaining though. There were a lot of misscommunications between these two and they took a lot of their time to resolve them and it is my major reason for not loving the book enough to give it more than 4 stars.

“I don’t know how to dance to this,” I whispered.
“But I do.” Logan pulled me closer. “Hold on to me and I’ll take it from there. Don’t let me go, Thea.”
The passion in his voice and the intensity of his gaze nearly broke me.
Because his plea had nothing to do with dancing.

This book also had suspense as a sub-plot which wasn't really needed in my opinion but it added a nice suspenseful quality to the storyline. I loved the ending and the epilogue. It was so cute and wholesome. I am not a fan of hea but the epilogues made me want more of Thea, Logan and Charlie and their cute domestic moments.

One night stand only to meet up again years later and be surprised with a secret daughter. It wasn’t perfect but I still really enjoyed it.
