Nice storyline, quick read, one of the more well written doctor who books but nothing overly special

This is one of my favourite books and the weeping angles are my favourite doctor who characters as well. I like how it describes some things the doctor does that he actually does do in the program's. I got really into this book and was actually scared for the characters.

Like an audio version of a Dr. Who episode. the Doctor did unexpectedly use a good amount of hypnosis in this one... which I have not seen before.
Good basic story and seemed like a lead in to Angels Take Manhattan.

An excellent adventure with wobbly wobbly times wimey stuff. The characters are spot on and the angels menacing. Good plot and a fun read too.

Eight years after his wife's death, Mark Whitaker receives a letter from his future self, giving him instructions on how to save her. But why are the Weeping Angels following Mark? And can The Doctor, with Rory and Amy in tow, stop the Weeping Angels from rewriting history? Of course he can! He's the Doctor...

I got this from Netgalley.

I have a few Doctor Who tie-in novels under my belt at this stage in the game and few of them really manage to capture the feel of a Doctor Who episode. Touched By An Angel could have easily been a fifth or sixth series Doctor Who Adventure.

The plot looks pretty simple on the surface. Mark gets a letter for himself and tries to stop his wife from being killed in a car accident. However, Touched By An Angel uses a lot of timey-wimey stuff and has more twists and curves than a Moebius strip.

The Doctor, Amy, and Rory are well-written and true to their episodic incarnations. Mark Whitaker is the character that sets this Doctor Who novel head and shoulders above most of the others. If you had a chance to undo the untimely death of the love of your life, wouldn't you do it?

Once Mark finds himself in the past, the plot really starts twisting in on itself. The Weeping Angel's plot makes a lot of sense, as does the actions future Mark, the Doctor, Amy, and the Rories(?) take in order to make sure history doesn't get rewritten and empower the Weeping Angels. Mark's final fate is right in line with some of the more poignant Doctor Who endings.

That's about all I can say without spoiling too much. If you're looking for an Eleventh Doctor novel, this is the best one I've run across so far. Four out of five stars.

pretty solid doctor who book!! not as good as the pure genius that is jonathan morris’ festival of death but still a fun time. eleven, amy, and rory were all well characterized and i appreciated the depth in mark’s perspective. a little handwavy in moments but that’s doctor who for you

Surprisingly emotional and compelling for a TV tie in novel. Usually I enjoy these because they're extra episodes in a way but I thought this one was better than average. I cried reading the ending which isn't something I've ever done reading a TV tie in novel before. This story has heart. Would recommend for any Doctor Who fan who likes reading.

This Who romp was a lot of fun. The characterization of Matt Smith as Doctor 11 was spot on, and I could see him speaking the lines of dialogue in my head. Amy and Rory were well done also, and added enough to the story to warrant them being involved and not getting in the way. The story follows Mark Whitaker, a man sent back in time by the Weeping Angels inside his own timeline. Mark grapples with the loss of his wife, while living in the past and attempting not to run into his past self or change anything significantly. All this he does with the help of the Doctor and his companions, who appear at different points throughout Mark's timeline. The Weeping Angels play a major part in the story, and are constantly in play and show up almost every chapter. The story is fast paced and short, so it doesn't overstay its welcome or leave you wanting more. The ending is sad, of course (no spoilers here!) but it makes sense in the story itself and the world of Who, so that's all you can really ask for. I'd highly recommend it if you like 11 or the Weeping Angels.

A heartbreaking read - 4*

Mark lives alone. His wife died nine years ago in a tragic car accident. With the help of the weeping angels, he has the opportunity to prevent the car crash from ever happening but should he do it? Should he save the woman he loves if it means that a paradox could be made that could destroy the world?

This is the problem Mark has through the book. With the help of the 11th Doctor, Rory and Amy, he will try to make sure history stays the same. He will try but then again he has the opportunity to save his wife... Will he take that risk?

A fantastic read. It had me gripped from beginning to end.
