Elise Callisto is a strong character with a one tracked mind, to find out who killed her brother. She is an incredibly strong character that while has her vulnerabilities isn't written in a way that makes me bored or annoyed with her.
This book was so much fun! Despite the fact that it starts a little grim. It also helped that I read all of Zodiac Academy awhile back so I was familiar with most of the main cast. Having said that, part of me wishes that I could experience the whole story through the guise of the emotional impact reading order.
I cannot wait to see how this unfolds.

Loved this book and couldn’t put it down. I’ve been excited to dive into this series and it did not disappoint. I cannot wait to see where the rest of the series takes us and I need so much more from the Kings! They’re all so intriguing and I get the feeling they are all her mates, but we won’t get that confirmed for a while. I actually really like our FMC. Elise is fierce and vulnerable and confident in all of the right ways. My heart broke for her loss and what she’s survived until this point. Her grief felt so genuine throughout. Getting chapters from Gareth was a surprise and I’m anxious to see what other information we get from those! So excited to continue to dive into this series!

This book, I read it slowly. I was not sure how I was going to feel about it as I make my way through the ZA universe. However, about 54% in I really started to like it.
I was hoping they would solve the murder by the end of this book, but I do understand that it is just uncovering a deeper, more sinister plot.
I like the FMC, and her pain. I am not as crazy about the kings.
I think all the kings KNOW about Gareth.
Ryder- I do enjoy his character, and feel like I want to more deeply explore him. I feel like he KNOWS.
Dante- I’m unsure how I feel about him, sometimes I like him. I feel like he has a more gentle heart than I am expecting.
Gabriel- I love me a broody man. I think he KNOWS. I feel like he is hiding something deeply.
Leon- hear me out. I think he’s probably sinister. The lazy vibes do not mesh well with the pawn shop. I think he knows the most.
I think they all played a part in whatever happened, like they’re all involved in this cult somehow. You can all mock me later.

I'm liking this a little less than I was enjoying Zodiac, but im sure this reading order will pay off. It took me a while to get into, at first I didnt wanna read any of the boys chapters because their heads were honestly gross and so narcissistic but I think their characters developed well. I'm still not sure how I feel about Elise. She's a bit whiney and not as much of a bad ass as I would have hoped, but shes got potential

A young powerful female vampire wants revenge for who killed her brother, but she only knows he is a “King” at the boarding school where he attended. She uses her smarts to get admitted to the school and uses her feminine wiles to get close to the four kings. The most powerful and dangerous (and sexy) fae men on campus. Ryder is the leader of the Lunar Brotherhood gang and violence is his niche. He shifts to a Basilisk and can push visions into people’s heads. Dante is the leader of the rival gang. He is a storm dragon and super charming (and her roommate). Leon is a lion shifter with animal magnetism. He is the least threatening of them all but has a hidden brutal side. Last but not least is Gabriel, the most powerful fae at the school. He is a harpy with two different elemental powers. He is the dark brooding type with secrets. He also thinks Elise is his fated mate but keeps trying to reject her and protect her at the same time. One of these males killed her brother. I love how Elise plays them all to get close to them despite the danger but I think she is getting caught in her own games. Great book! Kept me on my seat the entire time. Nothing was resolved in the first book, so be prepared to continue.
