What if you took the walking dead/last of us, took out all the zombies and replaced them with a stupidly heartwarming romcom? You'd probably end up somewhere in the region of this book. I feel like you don't often see dystopian books with this level of just charm and warmth. Just a wonderful read.
so, i liked it. it was nice and fun and cute. it was entertaining and a little gripping. it was fun! i’d recommend.
for a debut, this is real good. i had my gripes with many a things, though. the timeline and succession of events feels disjointed. a few days pass, then a few weeks. and of course, character choices were definitely made. and i definitely questioned them. to me, andrew and jaime’s voices were not really distinct. unless andrew was making pop culture references, their changes of pov weren’t nearly different enough. there wasn’t really and overall plot but rather small little plot points/obstacles put together. there were like two typos that kinda bothered me, but that’s more of a me thing.
this isn’t to say this is a bad book. it’s a good book. it had it’s issues but, the good things outweigh the bad. the writing is solid, the book is nice and cute and there’s tension built. and given its many pop culture references, it wasn’t all that cringey. i liked it : )

I really liked this book! It was funny, cute, and overall a pretty decent scifi!
Solid 3.5 stars. A refreshing take on a post apocalyptic YA book.
