I don't read much non-fiction, but I love the books by Raynor Winn.

I've just finished her third one, Landlines, and I loved it. It relates Raynor and her husband Moth's epic 1000 mile walk from the north of Scotland to their home in Cornwall. And all the time, they are hoping against hope to slow the progress of the terminal illness from which Moth is suffering.

Along the way, Raynor makes observations about the plight of the British countryside as well as the global climate emergency, all framed against the backdrop of a post-Brexit, post-Covid world.

I know several people who haven't really warmed to this writer, but I find her many doubts and fears human and real. And I defy anyone to read these books and not be thoroughly humbled and inspired by Moth.

If, like me, you fancy dipping your fiction-loving toe into the non-fiction waters, I highly recommend Raynor Winn's books - The Salt Path, The Wild Silence and this one.

It is an amazing book. I Love books about Nature and travel. And Raynor Winn is absolutely amazing and writing avlbout These Things in a very honest way. It isn't a five-star, because I felt as If the First third of the book wasn't as Well written as the Rest. It felt rushed and Not descriptive enough which then Made the reading-experience slow.

A story of struggle, achievement and hope. I love this book, it captures the imagination and catches the reader up in the true story of Moth and Raynor and Moth's difficult path to wellness...

Audiobook narrated by the author.

Raynor Winn continues with her poetic style of writing, describing various long distance trails she has walked with her husband, Moth, who is suffering with declining health.

They travel up to the Cape Wrath trail in Scotland and walk home to Cornwall in this 'warts and all' book, which is about their love for walking and for each other.

I enjoyed the humourous conversation at the end of the audiobook between them about their love of tea.

4 stars as I enjoyed it, but wouldn't read/listen again. I'll look forward to any more books this author releases.

This was such an enjoyable read that made me want to go on a long hike! Some of the tangents that the author went on weren’t my favourite, but overall I really loved it.
