This book had me from the beginning and was a 5 star book until the ending. Terry is a middle age woman working as a nurse and living alone. To her it seems as life as passed her by and when Allison shows up to rent her cottage a new life seems to spring for Terry. This book is told by the main character as if she is having a conversation with the reader. This made it seem as if Terry was targeted for a scam involving either herself or her patients. This is a taut psyhological thriller that you will read quickly to see how Terry believes she is being taken for a ride. All the way through the book, I kept saying Terry wake up and get out of there, but that didn't happen. Now for the problem with the ending, I hated the fact she killed her patient in the nursing home. That wasn't justified at all. But looking back at her mother's death, she caused that too. And in the end Terry wasn't the victim, but rather the devious criminal who I believe suffered a mental illness or is a psycopath. And since I wasn't given a WHY for her actions, it gets a 4 not a 5 but I STILL highly recommend this book.

Easy read. Felt a little uneasy at the end. Did not expect that. Okay read.

Well, this was my first experience with Joy Fielding, and I thought it was a pretty good book. I don't read many mystery/thrillers, but I liked this one. It's my understanding that this isn't a typical novel for Mrs. Fielding, that most of her stuff is much lighter and not so...twisted. Either way, I'm looking forward to picking up another one of her books. I liked the writing style, it flowed nicely and made the book fly right by.
