As a long-time reader of Monica McCallan books, of course I jumped right into this one when I saw it was released early.

The Love Lie is a low stakes, low angst story of two women who have to overcome the wounds of their past to craft a future together.

In true McCallan fashion, the main characters communicate to one another wonderfully, leaving no space for unnecessary misunderstandings and cheap drama.

The cast of side characters is great, and I would love to learn more about Hallie.

I'm a sucker for a fake dating romance, and even though I do love your usual tropes, it was nice to see that this story doesn't depend on them to make things interesting.

If you're after a quick, lovely afternoon read, this book might be for you.
