This is my first Monica McCallan book and I'm so glad I have picked it up cuz it's a 5-star for me emotionally! But there's some things that I wish would be written differently like the part about Brynn.
The book is medium-paced but everything also flows quite quickly. Reese and Sydney become a couple fake dating from the start. We get to know them and their own struggles. I love how they genuinely care for each other even when they were only dating for show. Their relationship then turns into a real romance. I love how them getting together is not the end goal for the book, rather we get to see how their relationship evolves. There's no big twists or fights. It just depicts a really healthy relationship which is refreshing to read. They only want what's best for the other person even if it means they will need to make sacrifices. They are very open to communication and solving problems as a team.
I love how the book is about friendship and relationship between family members. The secondary characters are quite well-developed and most of them likeable. Although I feel there's certain things that could be improved such as the writing, the sudden change of Grant, maybe more we can get to know Brynn even more, the romance and the world the book has created make me love it so much that I'm giving it 4.75.
I will be re-reading The Love Lie for sure!

I usually hate a fake dating trope. Honestly, I almost always skip a read when that's in the synopsis. But, I love Monica McCallan's books, so I took a chance. I'm glad I did!
