This book! I feel like I say WOW alot, but sometimes I finish a book and I'm just speechless. I've read a bunch of REALLY great books lately, but I just feel a connection to this author's writing. This was more than a romance for me, it was a hauntingly beautiful story about a woman finding her own sense of truth and self worth and loving HERSELF enough to finally love someone else. She did an OUTSTANDING job with Cam, so perfect a match for Jo Ellen, but I FELT Jo Ellen, like I was in there with her, and it was such an incredible journey she took this character on. In the book, they use the ugly duckling analogy, and I totally understood the reference, but I would describe it more as a phoenix rising from the ashes. That may seem a bit dramatic for a romance story which is why I contend this is romance PLUS. I feel like the story was EVERY BIT as much about Jo Ellen coming to peace with and loving herself and who she is, just as much as it was about she and Cam. Once she learned to love who she was, she burned all her former superficial dreams and desires to ashes and rose from it different, stronger. The development was beautiful to watch. There was also enough other things going on in the background to keep you turning the pages. And LAUGHS! Can't forget that! Several times I caught myself smiling or straight up laughing out loud like a fool in the room by myself with my book! So yeah, I'd give this book more than 5 stars if I could and I look forward to more from this one-click author! She just gets me :)
A scotsman neighbor, a girl with image issues and a friendship neither expected. Being compared and never feeling good enough can really do a number on a woman.. pair that with your boss you've been in love with finally giving you the time of day, you do what you must to feel like the pretty girl for once in your life. Along with the scotsman neighbor working with you to better yourself for you and nobody but you. But is it too good to be true?
"You feel like home."
"You feel like home."
Didn't like her pining over a married man and her constant self depreciation of herself
I am in love with Cameron McGregor. Oh the sass and the ego and the beauty of his heart. And Joellen is just adorable. I loved how she gave Cam what for every time he tried to overwhelm her. HE was sweet and direct and crazy hot.
I love the hate to love trope when it's well done and this one is fabulous. Although it was more annoyance/ slight indignation to love. These two were fun to read and I found myself laughing out loud several times. I cannot wait for book three although I doubt the next couple will supplant my love for Cam Prancer and Ms Snufflebotttom.

There aren’t enough words for me to describe how much I love this book! The heroine is so relate-able. I am also that girl that struggles with my own image, so much so that I won’t even let people take my picture. I understand that you can be a strong person but can struggle with accepting what you look like and how your mind can trick you into only seeing your flaws. I loved the journey Joellen takes to realize she was a beautiful swan all along. The hero was absolutely perfect and I wouldn’t change a single thing about this book. I loved every single page. This is a top pick of 2018 and going on my all time favorites list. The audiobook was one of the best I’ve ever listened to - narration was really well done.
