I read this my sophomore year in high school for a combined Honors English/Honors World History project. It caught my attention because I really enjoy learning about Medieval times and the crusades. Overall, this is a really good book. The writing style is something I've never come across before; it's most definitely unique but sometimes it could be a little hard to get into it. The battle scenes were very detailed, so much so that at times I felt as if I were actually on the battle field. If you enjoy historical fiction, definitely give this book a try.

Crusading history at its most blunt, graphic and real.... but I just couldn't get into the story or characters.

A slice of history, very graphic but realistic. Note this book will not be for all readers.
