I'm sorry I put this off as long as I did. Those intimidated by "old" literature should consider this one, as Charlotte's writing is so inviting and easy to comprehend. The story that blossoms between Jane and Rochester is endearing yet heartbreaking, and even manages to carry with it a pretty well-hidden twist. There is some violent content in the beginning, as a young Jane is disciplined harshly by her aunt and at boarding school, but otherwise most readers should find nothing to worry about.
