It had been a while since I read the first in the series with my son (7), but we were able to pick up this one and enjoyed it a lot without any issue. I like the problem solving in these books (although there wasn't as much in this as in the first). It's also just a really sweet and fun story for bedtime that doesn't have anything too scary or suspenseful.

Elmer’s newly freed draconic companion agrees to accompany the young lad home. But after a storm, they must rest on a deserted island where a lost avian race is cursed by an ancient buried treasure.
While not as tightly written as the previous installment, the sequel to “My Father’s Dragon” is a fun title in its own write. Not relying on chekov’s gun the whole way through does hasten the pacing a little bit. It’s great for kids.

Not quite as charming as the first one. This storyline was a bit more random, the first one was more entertaining and fun to predict. But still a good story that Gabe loved.
