I read this after reading the original book for couples. It was extremely insightful to learn my daughter’s live language and get tips for how to speak it. The book was a bit too religiousy in some parts for me. And other parts (the discipline section) was too vague. I wanted more examples of phrases to use. Overall a good reference. Off to read the teenager one for my son!

Was reading with a group and we decided to stop
A good parenting book on how to determine which love language is strongest for your child and specific ways to show your kids love with each language.
The first half was more interesting/useful to me than the second. The second half is too vague and doesn't get to the root of the problem in some ways.

I was pretty bored by this book when I read it--it seemed like so much more jargon-based hoo-ha--but it has stayed with me and has influenced the way I relate to other people. In a good way.
Ugh. I like the concepts but just get a pamphlet with the basics. There is no need to read the whole book.
I love this book. This is the second time I've read it. A friend recommended it to me when my son was younger, it really helps in learning different ways to communicate your love to your child in ways that they'll understand. The concept of the 5 love languages is not understood by all, but ever since learning about them I think it makes complete sense and have been able to apply it to my own life, when I have felt loved and unloved. We all speak a different love language and if more people learned about this it would truly help to understand others.

Really enjoyed this book. Most of the content seems like “basic knowledge” but the book serves as a great reminder as to how to integrate these practices into every day life. It’s a great book to read over and over again as a refresher.
Not a whole lot of new information from the original Love Languages book...though the authors do have some good suggestions of age-appropriate ways of loving--especially for parents of teens, where showing love can be more tricky.
