I secured this book in 24 hours, it reminded me of my family and the childhood we can all relate to within our families. I wish the ending was a bit different but I throughly enjoyed this story and the bounce from past to present was beautifully done.

So much potential to be a 5 ⭐️ favorite for me. Solid debut. The details. Selena. The appropriate Spanglish thrown in!! Spanish thrown in where it worked and felt right and not just to have Spanish thrown in the book just to add edge to the story. I debated between giving this one a 3 or 4 though. The whole thing with the old lady and the curse that never really got sorted out until the last 2/3 pages of the story …. Smh. Unnecessary. The whole ending felt rushed. The book deserves a more dramatic ending. To many things left unresolved and questions unanswered. I gave it 4 ⭐️ because the author did do a great job of developing the characters and getting invested in the whole story.
