I struggled when I started this book. I kept having to re-read sentences because I didn’t realize it was told from two different point of views from different characters and jumped between timelines. I think about 1/4 of the way through I started to feel something for the characters and the story. Towards the end, it all started to make sense. I felt that this story would be relatable for anyone feeling unloved/unheard by a parent. Also it deals with grief a different way that is eye opening.

I really enjoyed the two POV. Both women from different points in their life and the struggles they faced as Mexican Americans. I did enjoy LuLu's perspective a bit more. I did not like hoe the book ended. It felt like it needed more and was unsatisfying.
