Boring

I have to admit I was a little disappointed with this book. Having people tell me it was terrorfying and creepy lead me to belive this was going to be a really scary book but it just wasn't at all.
Perhaps if we hadn't seen inside Ray's head so much it would have been more frighting but to me it just wasn't.
Still a decent enough story but just not that scary really.

I absolutely love Jack Ketchum's books. Fast-paced writing style and horribly disturbing stories.

Tough to know what to make of this one. It starts with a bang, but then for the next 80% or so, is this meandering portrait of smalltown New Jersey life in 1969 that just so happens to feature a double murderer. It's Ketchum, so it's well-written, and it was sort of exhilarating having no clue not only where the story was going, but where it could go. Then it turned into a runaway train for the last fifth almost out of nowhere, but really exactly as it had been leading up to the whole time. Not Ketchum's best, but definitely worth it, especially for fans of realistic horror.
