Within the first two chapters, I felt like I couldn't handle the gravitas of this book. But then I couldn't stop reading it. Read it in one sitting, turning the pages wildly, completely wrapped up in the story. Gorgeous, heartbreaking, wonderful.

I started reading this just before the Lunar New Year holiday but I took it to school with me thinking I would read it on the bus and ended up forgetting it on my desk! It got buried under some papers for a day or two and I eventually remembered to bring it home and finish it.
Have tissues handy.

I liked it. I would have liked it better if I had been a middle school student (and thus haven't read SO many books just like this), but I can tell many of my students will enjoy this.

A story of a boy on a journey to finding out the important things in life. A remarkable story with beautiful writing and heart wrenching moments.
